To MU Faculty

The university is experiencing an onset of a flu event that will impact the entire campus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate 30 to 50 percent of the population may be affected by the Novel H1N1 flu.

Students, staff and faculty are being told to stay home and not to attend class or come to work if they are ill with flu-like symptoms (fever of 100 degrees or higher, coughing, body aches, sore throat, etc).

Please be prepared, plan ahead and be flexible:

  • Develop classroom coverage plans if you or other instructional staff are forced to miss class due to personal illness or illness in the family.
  • Consider the potential impact on your class policies. Be flexible with your attendance policies to accommodate student absences due to the flu.
  • Consider alternatives for assignments and deadlines.
  • Consider alternative content delivery systems that will help support students who miss class due to illness. Utilize the resources and suggestions found at http://etatmo.missouri.edu/toolbox/index.php
