Threatening person with knife

3:34 a.m.
At about 3 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, the University of Missouri Police Department arrested Nicholas Walters, 34, of Columbia, for unlawful use of a weapon, assault in the fourth degree, felony resisting arrest and trespassing in the first degree in response to a report of a man with a knife near the intersection of College Avenue and Anthony Street.

An MU Alert was issued at about 2:30 a.m. MUPD responded and took Walters into custody about 25 minutes later near Ripley and Pratt streets. The Columbia Police Department assisted.

2:53 a.m.
MU Alert Update: ALL CLEAR. Subject taken into custody at Ripley and Pratt streets. Campus back to normal conditions.

2:40 a.m.
MU Alert Update: Subject is a white male in his 40s with full beard and scraggly hair carrying knife near College Avenue and Anthony Street. Stay away from area. Police responding.

2:30 a.m.
MU Alert: Threatening person with knife near College Avenue and Anthony Street. Evacuate and stay away from area. Police are responding. Update to follow
