MU to shift to remote operations on Monday, Jan. 6

Due to severe winter weather conditions, the University of Missouri campus and UM System office in Columbia will shift to remote operations from 12:01 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6.

Employees will fall into three categories during a severe weather event:

  • Those who aren’t required to work on-site and will telework from home or another location. Staff who do not telework must use their available accrued paid time off.
  • Those who are non-exempt (hourly) and are required to work on-site may be eligible to receive premium pay; those who are required to work on-site and choose not to must use their available accrued paid time off.
  • Those who cannot carry out their duties through telework and who are instructed that they are not required on-site to work will be compensated.

Employees should contact their supervisor if they are unsure which category they fit for the current event. As always, faculty, staff and students are expected to exercise good judgement when deciding if they can travel safely to campus during severe weather

For information on how winter weather is affecting any off-campus activities, including clinics, off-campus meetings or conferences, please refer to the host location.

Links to university services, including those offered by MU Health Care hospitals and clinics and the Veterinary Health Center, are listed online.

Details about MU’s campus closure policies and more can be found on the UM System website.
